How do I book you for our wedding?
Once we receive your payment for half of the total cost of your wedding film package, you are officially booked. You can pay by credit card, including amex and discover, by check, or we can send you a PayPal request, and you can complete the purchase on your end. We’re open to payments in thirds too if that helps you get a better video. In that case, one third would book the date, one third due by the wedding, and the final third due by the edit.
What if we know we want to book you, but aren’t sure exactly what package we want?
You can alter your package later, so just choose a package that you think is closest to what you will want, and book based upon that price.
But I don’t want my wedding to look like we’re on the set of a TV show with all those cameras. Won’t they be in the way?
You probably won’t even notice us. Camera one, the wide shot, we lock down, and you probably will never even see it. Camera two, the mid-shot, will be manned by a cinematographer using a tripod, and usually off to the side out of the way. Camera two rarely moves unless there is an unexpected obstruction to the view. Camera three is often manned by a cinematographer who shoots “handheld” but actually with a steadying device that allows movement. Even so, we respect the sanctity of the ceremony and capture close-ups without becoming part of the event. We have some amazing zoom lenses, and always do our best to be out of the way. We also don’t want to be in our own shots from either of the other cameras.
If we add on a full ceremony edit, and reception highlights, how long will the final DVD be?
1) Your ceremony edited in documentary style, meaning reality based with real audio and in chronological order, runs close to the actual length of your ceremony. Usually, ceremonies run between 20-30 minutes, or up to an hour for some Catholic and church weddings. 2) Your post-ceremony/reception highlights also edited in documentary style with some creative liberty, and this usually amounts to around 30-40 minutes, depending on what all was going on; 3) Your Film will be anywhere from five to twenty five minutes, depending which film package you select.
How about music? Can we choose it, or do you do that?
So glad you asked. ( ; This has recently become a very hot topic in our industry, and the simplest answer is that we will most likely select your music ourselves. We will take into account your musical and style tastes, and welcome your thoughts on music. Bottom line, any music selected must be legally licensed. We already have accounts with many music licensing sites, and their libraries are growing by leaps and bounds as wedding filmmakers move toward fully legal use of music in their products, and the supply grows to meet the hungry demand.
Why should we go with Momentus Films instead of someone else?
You will have to answer this question for yourself. The best way to know which filmmaker to go with and why depends most on what kind of wedding film speaks to you. Look at the work, lots of it. You will get a feel for that company’s style, strengths and weaknesses by viewing several films. Ask to see a full wedding edit as well. But for the most part, you can at least narrow down your choices by viewing work online, and many companies are also beginning to offer links to longer edits for online viewing as well. Look at the work, and let your gut be your guide.
What is Momentus Films’ style?
Look in the mirror. Our style reflects you, your story, your best and most loving vulnerable selves. One of the comments we most often get is “I can’t believe how ‘us’ our video is.” View our work and you will see how the stories change depending on the couple themselves. We have some couples who are totally down to earth, real, some more shy than others, some with dramatic flair, some so beautifully sweet. We film weddings that are major blockbuster productions and some that are endearingly intimate. As long as true love is involved, we’re in.
